LGAP Briefing

Livestock Global Assurance Program (LGAP) is an international conformity assessment based on international precedents and science. It has the similar assurance as ESCAS but different mechanism.

LGAP aims to foster world's best practice in welfare and management of animals. It recognises areas of strength and excellence and encourages continuous improvement. it can picks up where ESCAS leave off.

Major difference with ESCAS is that where ESCAS is supply chain based, LGAP is a facility based. Facilities have to take responsibility in managing animal welfare in their premises.

LGAP follows ISO guidelines for development of standards.

This briefing was meant for the existing ESCAS supply chains, to provide them with information regarding LGAP and where the industry need to pursue improvement from the current animal welfare standards.
